Among these treasures lies Douglas Lake, a serene body of water born from the construction of Douglas Dam. This area, rich in history and natural allure, provides not only a scenic haven for visitors but also a source of inspiration for artists like myself. The dam stands 201 feet high and stretches 1,705 feet across the French Broad River, creating the expansive Douglas Lake. The reservoir covers over 30,000 acres, with 555 miles of shoreline, providing not only power but also flood control and recreational opportunities for the region.
